Consultancy

Mass consultancy is Synthetic Research-as-a-Service (SRaaS). We work with research organisations, universities, consultancies, governments, and media and insight teams who need a defensible read on likely reactions before the expensive or irreversible part begins.

What we do

Research design and scenario set-up

We start with the decision, not the tool. We turn your question into something a simulation can answer honestly, choose the segments that matter, define the scenarios worth comparing, and agree up front what would count as a useful result and what would not.

How we ground a run

We analyse the client's existing research, briefs, public context, and stimulus first. We show what the simulation is grounded in before it runs, then interpret disagreement against that evidence. The forecast is directional. We will say when the decision needs real measurement.

Running and interpreting the simulation

We build or adapt the personas, ground them in your briefs, policy, data, and the news that shapes them, and run them across multiple models with cross-checks. Then we do the part software is bad at: reading the disagreement, separating signal from noise, and writing a forecast that says what will happen, why different groups will react as they do, and how to respond.

Embedding Mass in your organisation

For teams that want to run their own simulations, we set up custom audiences, connect your data, configure dedicated environments for privacy-sensitive work, and train your researchers to use the platform well. The aim is that you need us less over time, not more.

How an engagement works

Most engagements run in four steps and take days rather than months. Larger programmes repeat the loop.

1. Brief - We agree the decision you are trying to make, who it affects, what you already know, and what a good answer looks like. If a simulation is the wrong tool, we say so here.

2. Build the world - We assemble the context: briefs, policy, news, financial signals, your own research inputs. We select or design the personas and segments, and show you what the simulation is grounded in before it runs.

3. Run and interpret - Hundreds of personas evaluate the scenarios from distinct perspectives with cross-model checks. We map where groups agree, where they diverge, and why, and we test the result against alternative framings so the forecast is not a one-shot guess.

4. Report and validate - You get a written forecast with sentiment, reasoning, segment differences, risks, recommendations, and confidence levels. Where a launch or announcement follows, we agree what real-world signals to monitor afterwards so the prediction can be checked against what actually happened.

What you get

Every engagement ends with something you can put in front of a board, a minister, a client, or a peer reviewer.

  • A forecast of likely reactions by segment, with the reasoning shown
  • A clear account of why groups respond differently and where the fault lines are
  • Recommendations on what to change, keep, or test with real people next
  • The grounding, prompts, and persona sets, so the work is inspectable and repeatable
  • Reduced pricing for non-profits, academic institutions, and public-interest work

Platform, consultancy, or both

Use the platform when you want speed and control: exploratory work, weekly checks, early-stage concepts, and questions your team already knows how to frame.

The consultancy is SRaaS. Use it when the stakes or the complexity go up: politically sensitive messaging, policy with second-order effects, audiences that do not exist off the shelf, or a decision where someone will ask how you know. Many clients do both, running the platform day to day and calling us in for the difficult ones.

Tell us about the decision

Describe what you are trying to decide, who it affects, and when you need an answer. We will come back within 48 hours with a view on whether a simulation can help and what an engagement would look like.

  • Consultancy (SRaaS): research design, audience and scenario set-up, running the simulation, and interpreting the results with you
  • Custom deployments and dedicated environments for high-volume or privacy-sensitive data
  • Custom audiences, grounding in your own data, and CRM integration
  • Comprehensive API access to integrate Mass into your own workflows
  • Reduced pricing for non-profit organisations, academic institutions, and public-interest work
